Massimo DeCarlo, Milano, 1992
Milano list, wall painting (this part of a work entitled citY list) - see file below
it addresses questions of computer language and site specificity. the computer language belonged to a Unix code and is now not in use anymore. the aggressivity of the language at the time was impressive.
all three wallpaintings are part of my 'file system' - see below - and address issues of urban space and how it is defined by discourses of power, technology and capitalism. elements from the two extra files were drawn directly onto the opposing wall joined by the running work city list (milan list). this works always starts with the place it is executed. I was able to do these city lists in Austria (1989), Holland (1989), düsseldorf (1989), dallas (1992), new york (1992) and tokyo (1993). the files had been presented as framed large scale photographs.
