DADALENIN is a project consisting of a variety of activities and media. made originally for the Cabaret Voltraire and the Moscow Biennial 2006 -
and other places interesed in these lost causes some of the most problematic history of 20th century.

V. I. Lenin, Collected Works, (Russian Edition) 1962, 2007

In the European and Russian tradition of book destructions, I am kicking a Russian edition of Lenins collected works accross the Red Square towards the Lenin Mausoleuml, where he still is for view almost daily until 1 pm. This work landed me in the hand and then in the car of the police. I was accused of Holigansim, an accusation that was "forgiven" after a payment of about 150 dollars - so to say, my most expensive taxi ride in Moscow.
READING
Reading Lenin - reading seminars these reading seminars consist of reading Lenin. Reading sessions are planed in several European cities including at Cabaret Voltaire, Spiegelgasse, Zürich, the former address of Lenin himself during World War I. So far scessions include New York, Baltimore, Moscow, Dundee, Stuttgart and Warsow (in former soviet style government palace) (more Lenin Reading seminars)

DADALENIN - a bronze sculpture
Lenin not only got his own mausoleum but he is for sure one of the people most represented man in bronze during the Soviet area. Lenin reproductions have fallen out of fasion (and are
now retailed on Ebay)
This exactly interests me: to make a new kind of bronze Leninsculputure - a new kind of HISTORICAL MATERIALISM
DADALENIN will be a new combination OF MATERIALS with a content that is somehow disputable, at least up for discussions.

This video series represents a continuation of my language based video
works entitled "Basic Feelings" and "Basic Conflicts"
. The principle is always the same: a given sentence is uttered by me
in all 11 of the languages I have been learning so far. In a situation
comparable with that of a language lab, I repeat the same sentence in
all these different languages touching on humor, absurdity and paranoia.
With this new set of "homeland security" clips, filmed as police
mug shots, I am making references to the newly created department of Homeland
Security, that is most likely to bring us some kind of a quasi-totalitarian
Big Brother police apparatus. Our homes will be subject to digital data
mining and endless profiling - in a phrase: "homeless security,"
since it is becoming harder to feel our homes are actually home.
My 'homeland security" sequences start with Arabic, a language I
have been learning only since 2001 and then ends with the more familiar
ones. The sentences are simple and express a degree of paranoia: "I
am not a terrorist" (1), "I am not a religious fanatic"
(2), "I don't give money to terrorist networks" (3), "I
don't know how to build bombs" (4) and "I am not downloading
dangerous information from the Internet".
