Venice Biennale 1999 - another t-shirt project

Since the early 1990, have been working with Please, teach me Japanese and other Tshirts as part of my art work. 1999, while representing the Austrian Pavillion at the Venice Biennial I produced a piece that consisted of 50 t-shirts entitled: Please, teach me ... 50 languages spoken in countries that don't have any Pavillion at the Venice Biennial. With the arrival of Bush, the artist started to embroider on top of 'I love NY' famous idioms uttered by W. G. Bush: From War on Terror, and Freedom Fries to Water Boarding. With the arrival of the current era of the financial and economic melt down, I’m taking on this new 'nomenclatura' and in a cheaper, less labor intensive way than hand made embroidery: I’m painting all the symptomatic terminology and names associated with the worst of it on the 'I love NY' T-shirts: Securitization, Collateralized Debt Obligation, Credit Crunch, Lehmann Brother, Bernard Bernoff, Subprime Mortgage, Toxic Assets etc…. As with Evil Doer written on a t-shirt it is not always easy to wear them since who wants to have written Bankruptcy or Foreclosure on his/her breast?

do you remember GREECE - the bad creditor who lied (with the help of Goldman Sachs) to enter the EUROZONE and nearly brought the EURO to a fall: at least a 20 % currency devaluation after near state bankrupcy, 2010 (the danger is not over yet) - staring Greek artist Aliki Panagiotopoulous

do you still remember BP - the oil leak in the Golf of Mexico, 2010 !

and do you remember the CREDIT CRUNCH --- world economic crisis that started in NYC after suprime mortgage crisis and near collapse of the entire world financial system ? 2007 - ... yes into these days.

Do you remember BERNARD MADOFF ? BIGGEST EVER FINANCIAL PONZI SCHEME MAN

A.I.G. - US. insurrance and financial company that received biggest US government bailout by comparasion.

These T-shirsts are hand painted and unlimted. There exists also a limited editon of 10 sets (10 plus 3 AP) of 20 T-shirts a set
