The small subtle drawing by Marcel Duchamp, The apprentice in the Sun, inspired me to all kind of works all entitled THE APPRENTICE IN THE SUN, hence also influenced this series of drawings that I did infront of an active vulcano (a only a a few weeks after its renewed eruption) on the Scicilian iseland of Stromboli September 2014

He might be on an escape route ... but
Here we can assume a Icarus problem on the horizon, a guy who approaches the sun and overheats, burns up and turns to ashes. We should also not forget that our planet earth, too, was once a boiling hot sun like mass that got a little crusty, a crust that it porous, so porous that hot liquid spills out, pours out, becomes lava.
