'War on Terror,' 'Axis of Evil' or
'Freedom fries'... drawings 2003 - 2005
One day - hopefully soon, we will be able to refer to these drawings in the past form as 'THE GEORG W. BUSH YEARS'
These drawings are made with ball pen. The technique is inspired by Alegiero
Boettis aircraft ball pen drawings and not by a famous Belgian artist.
Notice that also Andy Warhol has use ball pens and many others.
The ball pen is a bureaucratic, non-artistic kind of medium and easy to
handle. It is used here in a catatonic and semi-nervous way, releasing
an esthetic charm that borders on madness. For me ball pens create intensities
and build psychological profiles in the way, left over coffee does, thought
he we do it with our hand. Given the work intensive quality of these drawings,
only a few I did with my own hand. Others are done by assistants -- thanks
to all of them -- and are outsourced. It is mind-bugling to see how each
drawing looks different and can be misread as a psychogram - at least
for people with graphological imaginary.
I have recycled these drawings for a special artistic "US postal
service stamp parody" to commemorate contemporary tragic history.
